Accessibility Features
Building Layout
The Avalon Ballroom is a single floor building. There are stairs leading onto the stage, but near the back entrance to the kitchen there is an ADA compliant ramp.
Restrooms
- One gender neutral restroom near the front entrance that is accessible (door is not automatic)
- Two gendered restrooms past the ballroom with accessible stalls (doors are not automatic)
- A bench in the women's restroom narrows the pathway to the accessible stall to approximately 3 feet wide
Doors & Access
There are doors separating the ballroom and restrooms from the smaller studios that are occasionally closed for soundproofing. These doors are not automatic.
Seating
Ample seating of various sizes is located around the ballroom, in the restrooms, along the hallways, and in the studios. This includes:
- Chairs with arms
- Chairs without arms
- Benches without arms
Lighting
The main ballroom has LED color changing lighting strips. If the color creates sensory overload for you, please speak to a dance coordinator and the color can be changed. The Tango Studio has fluorescent lighting.
Sound
The venue features amplified sound with microphones for both the band and caller. Speakers are located around the perimeter of the ballroom.
Food & Refreshments
Snacks are often provided in the kitchen, with the opportunity to eat outdoors along the side of the building.
Water Fountains
Accessible water fountains are located at the front of the ballroom and near the back entrance to the kitchen.
Climate Control
The ballroom has air conditioning with vents located around the edge of the space.
